The 2000 season ushered in the first team that could ever call itself "The World Champion San Francisco Giants." That's great. The only catch, really, is that the Giants forgot to actually win the World Series, or even get to it. That, however, should in no way detract from what Our Boys did give us -- specifically, the best record in the major leagues, and, as of today, the top-two vote-getters in the MVP balloting, Jeff Kent and Barry Bonds. Hard to complain about that.

The hurt, at least for me, has largely died down from the Giants' October showing, one that -- to the best of my recollection -- saw them drop three of four to the Mets in the Division Series. It's something I'm trying to put out of my mind, as you might guess. And, believe it or not, the anger pretty much went away after just a few days, perhaps because I began focusing on the third annual Postmortem.

This year, looking at it alphabetically (except for me, who'll come first because it's my site), we'll have contributions from Tom Austin, David Beck, Richard Booroojian, Grant Brisbee, Todd Hawley, and Phil Ross. That's a hefty Postmortem, and one that I think will be the most fun to date. I'm sure you'll be more than pleased with the completely genuine, unretouched photos of the staff.

We hope you enjoy the Postmortem. I just want to thank Tom, Dave, Richard, Grant, Todd, and Phil for bringing you a fun bunch of articles, as well as the other EEEEEE! writers for their terrific efforts in the past, the name of at least one of whom I'd inadvertently leave out, so I won't list them here. That'll teach them.
