The following is the first volume of a compendium of lyrics to incidental music from the Star Trek television series. Hours of research, fact-ferretting and interviews with such notaries (Sorry, that should be "notables" -- Ed.) as Nichelle Nichols, Leonard Nimoy, Fred Frieberger, Gene Roddenberry, Majel Barrett Roddenberry and Spock Roddenberry, not to mention copious interpretation of musical nuances, resulted in pages -- reams -- of lyrical representation, much of which I have carelessly ("Carefully" -- Ed.) put down here, much as the reader might.
Hearty thanks go out to the people mentioned above, especially Leonard "I Am Not Spock" Nimoy for never pointing out the fact that the word "pling" does not appear in the song "Bitter Dregs" (as in: "Take care, young ladies, and value your wine. Pling! Beware of young men in their velvet prime. Pling!" etc.), and Nichelle "I am not Spock either" Nichols for refusing to reprise "Where My Heart Is."
